July 2002
This single story residential structure fire occurred in Missouri City, Texas on January 4, 2002. The fire was in a "Large Acreage" subdivision with no hydrants near by. The fire was determined to be accidental - a candle left burning in the bathroom.
The fire eventually went to two alarms with the following apparatus; Missouri City Fire & Rescue Services - Engines 104, 101, Quint 103, Battalion 101 / Sugar Land Fire Department - Engines 303, Ladder 302, Battalion 301 / Stafford Fire Department Engine 202, EMS 202/Rosharon Fire Department - Tanker 1/Fort Bend County EMS - Medic 5, Car 5. From the rapid intervention perspective, what do you notice as hazards right away? Where do you think the attack crews will be entering? Which way is the fire heading? Is an immediate walkaround to the rear of the building a priority? With this being a no hydrant area, is this a concern for the RIT, if so, what can the team do about it?
